What you’ll be doing

The Account Manager reports to the Chief Revenue Officer for Hitachi ZeroCarbon and will work alongside our Head of Operations and Delivery and you will define and manage technology and managed service business relationships, with an initial focus on our major partner and business relationship, First Bus. First Bus and Hitachi ZeroCarbon have entered into a multi-year relationship for the management and life-extension of their bus batteries combining our charge and battery management software solutions with an expert managed service team ensuring vehicles leave the depot with sufficient charge to deliver their services. Working alongside First’s decarbonaisation, engineering, change and operations teams Hitachi ZeroCarbon must deliver on its SLAs but also seek out new ways of working, efficiency improvements, technology enhancements and new services to supplement our existing agreement. The account manager will be responsible for stakeholder management across both current and future service delivery needs, working with our delivery, product, customer experience and sales teams to help deliver the optimal service and solutions to First

We are looking for an autonomous, agile Account Manager with a track record in building and maintaining C-Level relationship, developed through earlier experience in sales, pre-sales or consulting in the industry, software or service areas.

We are aiming for someone passionate when it comes to navigating within large organisations while building trust with all stakeholders. As an energetic self-starter, you will have the ability to focus on all aspects of building and managing partnerships, while keeping the focus on revenue generation.

Working collaboratively with other Hitachi Business Units, clients and prospects, you will work to identify opportunities within First and take leadership in orchestrating client discussions and identifying client value levers. The account manager will be responsible for finalising functional requirements alongside a combined First Bus and HZC team, ensuring the value of the solution is well understood and contracted for through both the build and deployment phases. Margin growth and enhancement of our services to First is mission critical whilst retaining a positive relationship with the key stakeholders within First Bus.

You will take ownership of client relationships; ensuring that we deliver outstanding services and ensure customer satisfaction, whilst providing valuable client feedback and insights that can serve to enhance our product road map and innovations in solution / service delivery.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Proven track record in scaling business in managed accounts and winning new business

Domain knowledge of the green mobility, transport and energy sector

The ability to work with the clients and Hitachi colleagues to design transformational solutions based on customer business goals, new business models and disruptive digital technologies

Sound operational capabilities especially around P&L and delivery management

Own, drive, update and manage client relationships based upon a clear and well-communicated account plan

Managing customer feedback into our product and delivery teams

Manage and deliver complex commercial deals

Working with the product/technical teams, refine, develop and deploy new product solutions based upon direct customer interactions and feedback through the sales process

In a player/manager capacity, ensure the monthly, quarterly and annual goals are achieved and provide effective governance, communication and qualification approaches to ensure the pipeline is effectively and efficiently managed across our proposition areas and into our partner Hitachi organisations

Rigorous management and accurate forecasting for monthly, quarterly and annual goals with robust qualification methodology and accurate projections

Manage and maintain performance against KPIs for the business

Articulate how our propositions can be used to drive business value for our customers

Understand key business value levers in different target segments

Understand customers & Hitachi business structure and how they vary across geographies

Manage own sales opportunities and support the ongoing sales pursuits of the sales team

Work with colleagues to build a high performing team.

What you bring to the team

We’re looking for a team player, who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The role will be a mixture of remote-hybrid work with 2 days/week working at Hitachi Office (Broadgate Tower, 20 Primrose Street, EC2A 2EW)

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:

Experience in account and product management in the mobility or energy industry at a professional services / consultancy, software or technology company

Exposure to large scale digital transformation programmes with prior experience in either digital strategy and technology driven programs

Successful track record of working closely with transport operators and transport government authorities within the UK

Demonstrable track record in the development for digital solutions and services

Strong communicator to take the lead and structured approach

Ability to understand the client strategy, political/competitive landscape, transition to net zero challenges and decarbonisation

Maintains good rapport and demonstrates leadership and collaborative teamwork in cross-functional teams

Ability to work seamlessly in a direct and virtual matrixed managed environment

Customer focused with Strong relationship building skills

Excellent academic qualifications with a BSc Degree and/or MSc, or equivalent level of experience

Embraces a culture of trust, free thought and complete transparency
