Department Overview
Rakuten Group’s AI & Data Division (AIDD) is seeking a dynamic AI Communications Specialist to help amplify the innovative work the company is doing in the global AI space.

You will be responsible for translating complex technical concepts into impactful visual narratives, ensuring our AI initiatives are communicated effectively to diverse audiences.
Position Details
This new role will focus on the following:
- Creating engaging content and visually impactful presentations for top AI and business leaders.
- Amplifying AI-related news and announcements across a wide variety of earned, owned & social media channels.
- Helping shape and refine the company’s core messaging on AI to key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation
Develop impactful, visually appealing presentations and infographics for internal and external audiences.
Utilize advanced PowerPoint and design skills to create professional-grade content for use on social media, web, internal signage, etc., adhering to brand guidelines.
Translate complex technical concepts into concise, engaging slides and visual assets.
Support video shoots, including storyboarding, agency coordination, designing key visuals for video series.
- Storytelling & Messaging
Craft compelling PR messages with a strong sense of tech and business storytelling.
Stay updated on AI trends, media storylines, and key players in the AI space.
Internalize the voice and tone of the company, as well as the voices of key company spokespeople and leaders.
Help further develop Rakuten Group’s core messages around AI, including its mission as an "AI Empowerment Company".
- Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with top executives and tech leaders to influence decision-making and advise on communication strategies.
Operate efficiently across teams and time zones in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate with partners, customers, agencies and other key stakeholders to communicate priority messages.
Keep the team up to date on the latest design and communications tools as well as industry best practices in the space.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, design, or a related field.
- Advanced PowerPoint and design expertise.
- 3-6 years in a similar role, preferably in a top-tier agency, global company, or AI-focused organization.
- Strong understanding of AI fundamentals and media trends.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with social media content creation.
- Experience using Generative AI tools and platforms is a must.
- Native level English ability is required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Business level Japanese ability is a plus.
- Critical thinking and problem solving: You enjoy the challenges of tackling difficult problems and relish the opportunity to put your learnings to practice.
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
