【Objectives of the Position】
Business management of portfolio for assigned crops with the target to enable profitable growth
Cross-functional management of current and development of future product portfolio as well as marketing activities/promotion plans/campaigns for assigned crops to create a differentiated offer in the market that creates added value for farmers
Provide strategic direction to the country organization for the short-term via budgeting process and mid- to long-term via the long-term planning process
Capturing maximum value of BASF assets by continuously identifying growth opportunities via relevant market insights that are addressed with appropriate portfolio decisions and marketing measures
【Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities】
Responsible for the development and implementation of crop portfolio strategies/roadmaps in accordance with the global crop system strategies; lead strategic, crop specific initiatives
Responsible to develop and implement marketing plan(s) that enable achieving financial budget targets in the assigned crops and support achieving mid- to long-term financial targets by enabling profitable growth; active monitoring of business development in assigned crops to identify deviations vs. plan to trigger development and implementation of corrective actions
Responsible for segmentation and effective positioning of products within the portfolio incl. price re-positionings in alignment Commercial Excellence
Responsible for the development/local customization and implementation of product launch strategy in close collaboration with Development and Campaign Management teams
Lead the cross-functional project teams (Marketing, Development, Regulatory) and strive for achievements of critical milestones to ensure an on-time registration in accordance with the targeted positioning
Identification of new project ideas including definition of the targeted positioning and the development of business cases; proactively collaborate with all relevant stakeholders (especially Development and Regulatory and regional teams) to support project approval as basis to to capture business opportunities in the market
Contribute to the expansion of the BASF offering beyond crop protection including digital, seeds & traits, biological solutions and the creation of connected offers that create added value for farmers
Development and implementation of marketing activities/promotion plans/campaigns in close collaboration with Campaign Management team that contribute to the achievement of the financial targets for the assigned crops; education of the sales team about the product positioning and crop (system) portfolio strategies/roadmaps
Actively collaborate with the sales team to align required commercial measures to support reaching budget targets
Responsible for the Long-Term Planning, Budgeting and S&OP process for the assigned portfolio
Identification of relevant market trends in collaboration with the Market Intelligence team and take corrective measures (as needed); exchange with customers and farmers to capture their unmet needs as relevant input for the portfolio management and development
【Job Requirements (Minimum requirement to carry out the work) 】
Education
University degree in business administration or agriculture
Language: Professional level in both Japanese and English
Working Experience
Min. 5 years in Product Management, Marketing, Business Management (preferably in agriculture)
Technical & Professional Knowledge
Profound professional experience in product management
Profound marketing knowledge
Profound agricultural market knowledge
Sales experience is beneficial
Strong analytical, strategic thinking and project management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
