ING Bank covers Wholesale and Retail Banking in Asia Pacific. Our Wholesale Banking business is present and active in 11 major economies in the Asia Pacific, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
ING Tokyo Branch is a multi-service wholesale bank branch servicing Japanese and non-Japanese institutional clients. Its services include various credit products including lending, transaction and cash management services, and financial markets. Branch management support all functions of the bank branch, including both front and back office, interacting closing with all branch staff as well as many offshore stakeholders.
Job Profile Summary
ING is looking to expand its Japan-based business to support both domestic and international growth. This role is based in Tokyo and reports to the Branch Manager. Responsibility includes supporting management and all lines of business, and for an ambitious candidate has the potential for lateral movement into other parts of the firm including front office client coverage.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist with onboarding new client relationships.
- Play a leading role in ING’s Customer Due Diligence Process (KYC).
- Work with sector and product bankers to periodically review the client portfolio, supporting the front office’s efforts to develop potential new client relationships.
- Work with counterparts in other countries and with ING’s sector and product experts when and where appropriate to meet client requirements, ensure timely dissemination of information, and help maximise cross-selling opportunities.
- Support Local Account Managers in other countries and regions to ensure a consistent level of service is provided to the client worldwide.
- Preparation of relevant client-related documentation, in cooperation with related relationship managers, product groups and global counterparts.
- Assist the Branch Manager, Country Business Manager, and Head of Sectors to prepare reporting and presentations.
- Work with control functions to maintain the highest standards for risk and compliance.
- Always act according to ING’s policies and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
- 1-3 years relevant work experience in the finance industry. For the right candidate, new graduates or those coming from other industries will be considered.
- Entrepreneurial with strong multitasking and time-management skills.
- Self-directed and self-motivated, but also an ability to take direction and follow through projects to completion.
- Highly reliable and conscientious.
- Strong ability and willingness to learn new skills, industries, and financial products.
- Strong analytical skills, with solid foundation in MS Office products.
- Good ability to network and collaborate with colleagues from different geographies.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with fluency in English and Japanese.
- Open minded with positive and customer-first working attitude.
