Department Overview

About Media＆Trend Business

Media & Trend Department, as the department responsible for Rakuten's media services, creates various touch points in users' lives, including advertising media originating from Rakuten Point, search, news, recipes, digital flyers, real estate and house hold account app for more than 10 million monthly users.

We provide a media platform that delivers a variety of information by optimally matching users and advertisers through unique advertising solutions that utilize Rakuten data, Rakuten Point, and AI recommendations and targeting.
The appeal of this position is that you will have discretion in a speedy environment and be able to provide services to users while leveraging a wealth of data and Rakuten's assets.

The SPS Section (Super Point Screen) operates the core business within this section, App Media.

The Product Group is the main product management department responsible for building the Super Point Screen experience and improving the service. The Product Group is responsible for planning service improvements and new features to make the service more enjoyable and convenient for millions of users.

Why We Hire

We are looking for members to promote a project to launch a new service on Rakuten Super Point Screen, which has been downloaded a total of 20 million times. We are planning to launch a short video-related service, and are planning a video content delivery function that users will find convenient on the application. This position will be responsible for acquiring content for distribution and business development roles in the project. You will promote the new service mainly through negotiations with internal and external content holders and business development.

Position Details

This will be a new service within an app that is used by millions of people per month. You will gain experience in planning and shaping services from scratch, working with members who have extensive experience in launching new services. You will be responsible for building the business of the service launch, focusing on negotiations with external content holders while making full use of your business development skills. The team is global in nature, so English will be used in many cases. You will be responsible for business development of this project, leading the new service while sharing roles among experienced senior PdMs, PJMs, UX designers, and business development members.

Work Environment

About 50 people in the entire section and around 6 people in the project team.

Many members have experience in product management, marketing, and business development, and many have skill sets in media, advertising, commerce, and other fields.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience in content business, including negotiations with external companies and business development.

- Experience in media (mainly key stations and content holders) related business.

- Experience in digital media monetization.

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in scaling new services for apps.

- Experience working in English.

- Experience with video services.
