Purpose of the Role

The Customer Engagement (sr) Events Manager works in partnership with the regional sales teams to increase customer retention and loyalty. He/she is responsible to maximize lead generation and ROI on all executed events. The CE Events Manager will, plan, organize and execute an annual program of customer events within budget. Customer events include: Library Advisory Boards, Summits, Roadshows, events at conferences and other customer and prospect engagement activities; virtually, hybrid, and live depending on goals and budget. The CE Events Manager ensures the positioning, branding and professional profile of Springer Nature for all institutional markets at customer events.

Responsibilities

Engagement in the region:

  • Proactively work closely with the local sales teams and ADs in Japan and SEA regions
  • Translate and edit content produced by Planning team positioned for Japanese regional events
  • Stay up to date on OA and TA uptake in the regions
  • Stay connected to other relevant stakeholders, RM teams, OA team, Academic Affairs team, Corporate Communications, etc.

Regional Advisory Board Program:

  • Co-create content of the meeting: including development of session topics, agenda setting, contact internal session leaders, set up session structure, prepare sessions, create final master deck, delivery meeting summary
  • Manage the invitation process: Create invitation lists in collaboration with the sales teams, send invitations, reminders and manage all communication with participants.
  • Oversee logistics, i.e. hotel reservations, meeting spaces, meeting packages, transfers, social activities; ensuring that these all remain within corporate compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and customer facing communication.
  • Follow up on event results and inform the relevant internal teams as Marketing Strategy, Product Development, and event stakeholders

Summits and Roadshows:

  • Set annual regional plan and develop during the year as required.
  • Focus on smaller regional meetings: specific topic or market, locally, 2-4 speakers per event.
  • Arrange all contacts internally and externally, set up agenda, manage the presentation slots, and meeting summary.

Events at conferences:

  • Responsible to ensure high visibility and professional display of the Springer Nature brand at each event.
  • Work together with the Exhibition Team.
  • Create conference plan for the bigger conferences with a side event, decide on booth equipment, marketing materials, side events, attendance, promotion plan, lead generation and evaluation.

Other:

  • Budget responsible for all regional events
  • Manage each project or event on time and within budget
  • Track lead generation, ROI, customer satisfaction for each event
  • Maintain CRM as it pertains to event activities.
  • Participate and contribute to the sales and marketing teams' regular meetings
  • Report on event activities and budget

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Experience

  • Experienced with working in an international matrix environment.
  • International event organization experience (3+ years).
  • Online and virtual meeting and event organization
  • Marketing experience within the library/information service industry.
  • Proven planning, project and content management and budgeting skills.

Skills

  • Native Japanese speaker and fluent in English
  • Commercially minded with a strong drive for success.
  • Creative and self-sufficient.
  • Proactive attitude
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Decisive problem solver.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Financial awareness.
  • Computer skills like: MS Office, G-Suite, Social Media, CRM

Qualifications

  • College or university degree with a Marketing or Business focus.
