Job Purpose:
Finance Manager supports Director of Finance and leads various finance related projects/initiatives on ad-hoc or routine basis involving other managers within finance organization as well as other functional groups within the company to accelerate value creation as finance organization.
Also, Finance Manager runs day to day finance and accounting operations together with managers within finance organization and backup other managers position as necessary, to ensure continuous fulfillment of the role of finance organization in Japan.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead various finance related projects/initiatives to drive robust and efficient control and upskilling Finance organization, involving managers within finance organization as well as other functional groups as needed.
- Monitor finance & Accounting operations and identify potential reporting and control issues then proactively mitigate gaps.
- Jointly work on month-end/quarter-end/year-end close process for legal entities in Japan, in collaboration with local stakeholders such as Accounting, AP (Accounts Payable), AR (Accounts Receivables) and Rebate Accounting teams, as well as, Corporate Accounting to ensure close is being completed timely and with no significant issues.
- Take over finance and accounting related operations from Director of Finance such as followings but not limited to.
- Review and approve general approval request based on approval matrix.
- Review and approve journal entry which has high value.
- Conduct second review of financial statements at closing
- Conduct second review of treasury operations and approve bank transactions.
- Oversee inventory, vendor receivables and accounts receivables aging and initiate necessary actions to secure value of those assets.
- Plan and build periodic report to Japan leadership team and Regional HQ.
- Coordinate and prepare finance all hands meeting and training.
- Extend support or back-up other manager positions within Finance organization as necessary.
Work closely with the Regional HQ finance and accounting team to clear technical matters and report quarterly updates. Enable adoption of relevant corporate policies, processes and systems initiatives in Japan. Update and coordinate feedback from local Japan teams, to ensure they are effectively passed on to Regional HQ or Corporate for consideration.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Native Japanese and Business or above English skill
- 7-10 years of experience as finance at commercial business, including experience in a good Audit firm and international business (preferred).
- Understanding overall finance and accounting operations and having broader finance and accounting experience
- USGAAP and JGAAP skills (USCPA and/or JCPA preferred)
- 3-5 years of people management experience (preferred)
