Workday is looking for an experienced Senior Global Sourcing Manager to join our Global Procurement Office and help start our Japan Sourcing team. This person will be responsible for aligning sourcing category strategies with business/company requirements to maximize value and partner with business stakeholders. This also includes executing the end-to-end Sourcing process of creating and managing category strategies, spend and market analysis, running RFx’s, negotiating contracts and pricing, and supplier management. He/she should have deep sourcing and vendor management experience across multiple categories, be able to operate at ALL levels of the organization and move seamlessly from tactical to strategic. Additionally, this person must have a keen eye for detail, be able to provide insights based on market conditions and trends, and partner with regional team members in Asia Pacific on the procurement team.
About You
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Management - Become a trusted advisor and partner to the Workday’s internal and external business stakeholders, advising on procurement policies and strategies. A key responsibility will be building and managing Workday internal business partners.
Teamwork - Partnership, communication and strong collaboration with other procurement team members located regionally and globally around the world.
Category Management - Develop and execute strategies across multiple categories within the region.
Supplier Management - Manage key supplier relationships across the region. Identify, qualify and formalize which suppliers should be aligned with preferred supplier status based on segmentation modeling. Utilize this data to build supplier strategies.
Negotiations - Lead the business negotiation process with internal partners and suppliers. Manage contract to completion. Develop negotiation approach, fallback positions, acceptable terms and conditions through to closure. Identify and manage all violations and exceptions to existing supplier contracts.
Purchasing Compliance - Educating stakeholders and ensuring purchases follow the company’s policies and are compliant.
RFI, RFP, RFQ services - Own and lead the supplier interface for all RFI, RFP and RFQ services. Partner with appropriate internal stakeholders. Manage the end to end process from creation to selection to contract implementation.
Cost Modeling - Own and provide industry and actual unit and service cost data which feeds into TCO and RFx evaluations.
Business Planning - Be accountable to coordinate suppliers and Workday internal customers and review supplier and business roadmaps.
Sourcing initiatives – Lead/support the maturation and continuous improvement of Sourcing at Workday.
Technical Expertise
Technology and product scanning/Market Intelligence - Support efforts to identify latest trends in technologies and industry offerings.
Demonstrated experience in managing multiple sourcing categories such as Marketing, Meetings & Events, Real Estate & Workplace Services, Professional Services, Benefits, Talent Acquisition
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in Procurement / Supply Chain / Sourcing role
Fluent in Japanese and Full Professional Proficiency in English
Demonstrated advanced sourcing experience leading RFx’s, conducting supplier management and managing multiple categories including, but not limited to: Marketing, Meetings & Events, Real Estate & Workplace Services, Professional Services, Benefits, Talent Acquisition
Ability to work and partner with global team members in other countries
Executing advanced Sourcing and Category Management concepts, practices, and procedures
Advanced understanding of contracts and contract management.
Expert at developing and executing negotiation strategies
Experience with ERP systems and tools
Possess a positive attitude, excellent communication and analytical skills
Proactive, result oriented, with a can-do attitude in meeting critical deadlines
Undergraduate Degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
