About the Opportunity

In conjunction with the Discova People & Culture Leader, this role is accountable for the operational management and future direction of the HR discipline. The role will also act as the local teams HR advisor as outlined below, as well as HR expertise and guidance to the business leaders. The HR Generalist will work closely with local General Manager as well as with the Japan HR Manager (from our sister brand FCM), to play a critical role in the implementation of strategy and initiatives to attract the right talent, to promote and discipline a healthy and safe work environment, to maintain business administration and collaborate with payroll vendor and finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and positive place to work through assisting leaders in building a cohesive and inclusive culture, team outings, share lunches/dinners, townhalls etc
  • Provide light HR advice and guidance to leaders in the business
  • Work closely with Country Manager to assist in executing People and Culture strategies
  • Generate and prepare documents (employee related) in a timely manner
  • Support in recruiting the right people to the right roles
  • In charge of onboarding new people following the Discova Experience one best way program
  • Identify educational gaps in teams and discuss with wider People and Culture team on how to close the gaps
  • Advice to business leaders on performance management, probation evaluations, policies, handbook and legislative requirements
  • Ensure correct data and alignment regarding employee movement for monthly payroll registration
  • Conduct Exit surveys
  • Manage documentation for work permits and visas
  • Ensure offboarding and onboarding procedures are consistent and followed
  • In charge of yearly health check ups
  • In charge of employee and HR folders are up to date and correct filing (online and offline)
  • Assist with monthly reports, salary benchmarking, JD's and KPI alignment
  • Administration of business registration, licenses and workplace health and safety. As applicable in your region
  • Ensure Rules of Employment and any other legislation is up to date and communicated.

About you

  • Minimum 2 years experience in HR
  • Japan citizen with business level english
  • HR degree/qualification
  • Knowledge of HR policies, law and procedures in Japan
  • Experience in an international company working cross cultures is an advantage
  • Outstanding employee care focus is essential
  • Results orientated and driven is essential
