HR Partner, Japan & South Korea

Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Senior HR Director for North & Southeast Asia, the HR Partner for Japan & South Korea will play a key role in providing Human Resource support in both countries.

You will have experience in independently partnering with all levels of management to provide advice and recommendations on all aspects of Human Resources, including but not limited to, talent management, employee relations and compensation & benefits.

You will work closely with the Country Leaders to promote Genesys as an Employer of Choice; a collaborative workplace that is open to ideas & innovation, with the right people, capabilities, behaviours and mindset for the Genesys of today and tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, the primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supports the full spectrum of our talent management priorities, including talent attraction, development, engagement, and retention
  • Leads end-to-end employee relations matters demonstrating strong experience in managing related processes and conversations
  • Manages all local HR administration
  • Works with the Talent Acquisition team to support growth and expansion as needed
  • Partners with the Country Leader to develop plans and initiatives for managers, employees and the site (e.g., Great Places to Work certification, DE&I activities, CSR programs, internal employee engagement surveys, site engagement events, trainings, etc.)
  • Facilitates annual performance and compensation review processes in accordance with global guidelines
  • Provides guidance to managers on performance and compensation matters
  • Develops and analyses HR data & reports with appropriate actions for continuous planning and improvement, including team reviews with managers
  • Regularly reviews and recommends enhancements to existing local HR processes
  • Partners with Training & Education to identify relevant department/site trainings as needed
  • Develops/maintains HR tools, programs and resources, such as
    • Country HR portal
    • Employee Handbook/Work Rules/Rules of Employment
    • Workday (HRIS system)
    • New hire orientation
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with the wider HR Team and cross functional relationships within the site
  • Drives Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in everything they do

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 8+ years of Human Resources or Human Resources-related experience in US multinational companies (ideally IT SaaS)
  • Strong experience in directly managing employee relations matters, including disciplinary process guidance
  • Knowledge of employment laws, statutory reporting, and compliance in Japan and ideally South Korea
  • Experienced in building the Japan Work Rules in previous companies
  • Native/Fluent in both Japanese and English. Any language proficiency in Korean would be highly regarded
  • Discerning in prioritising urgent tasks according to the needs of the business
  • Able to work confidently and independently with all levels of management in a consultative and analytical capacity, and with a sense of urgency
  • Strong, hands-on HR partnering experience. Able to apply Talent Acquisition, Training & Education, Compensation & Benefits and Data & Analytics knowledge to advise managers and employees.
  • Stays updated on changes in the law and/or the external environment affecting the HR area of specialization to be able to recommend enhancement to internal processes to align with market and local legislation
  • Comfortable working with data & reports to support decision making
  • Experienced in leading HR projects at a site or multiple sites
  • Successfully rolled out employee engagement events including DE&I and CSR initiatives
  • Takes a resourceful approach to managing ambiguity
  • Ability to maintain, understand and respect confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion
  • Able to travel as needed
