What will you do?
This is a critical finance leadership role that will be part of the Cytiva Japan Leadership Team, devising and advising both short term and long-term financial strategies for the region.
Commercial partnership:
- Partner closely with the Japan General Manager and his leadership team to achieve the overall business objectives and financial goals of the Region. Beyond that, provide financial leadership to all enabling and global functions within the Region.
- Provide insightful financial analytics to build a strong business case for any investments and strategically guide the business partners so that business decisions are well grounded. Remain a challenge function.
- Support financial business modelling on long-term strategic growth initiatives and business development projects (including external partnerships, collaborations, and any acquisition activity).
- Drive and lead the attainment of financial CVDs which includes profitable business growth, meeting regional cost commitments, and optimizing working capital levers (Past Due, DSO, and Days-to-Cash).
Financial mechanisms:
- Develop, own, and lead the overall financial mechanisms for the Region including Monthly Ops / Forecasting / Pulse reviews, Annual Budgeting reviews, Pricing Attainment calculations, Variable Cost and Base Cost target tracking, T&E dashboard, Cash forecast, Past Due dashboard, etc.
- Take ownership for monthly forecasting inputs, interacting with the commercial, OTR, CS, and other functional teams to provide best estimates for planning purposes. Ensure Orders and Revenue Forecasting Accuracy within required Danaher/Cytiva guidelines.
- Understand key risks and opportunities on Topline (Orders, Sales, SM), and Cost (Opex). Provide data-based and clear descriptions of variance movements, and proactive countermeasures plan to drive topline gap closure and issue resolution.
Fiduciary responsibilities:
- Approve commercial contracts per the Delegation of Authority. Highlight key contract risks and work with the Commercial, Controllership, and Legal teams to devise and monitor risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide oversight over all associated monthly financial reporting and closing activities, internal audits, SOX controls, and compliance for the Region. Drive full compliance to Revenue Recognition, Delegation of Authority, Commercial Contracting Approval, and other related policies.
- Work closely with APAC Controllership and Tax teams to solve pending issues and advise appropriately on any statutory and tax compliance matters.
- Work closely with APAC Cash and Treasury teams on any working capital needs including cash collection, payment terms structuring, entity liquidity assessments, and working capital improvements. Drive a strong mindset of good working capital practices including constant monitoring of past dues and reduction of average payment terms to customers.
DBS and Process Improvements:
- Lead the way and set the right tone of continuous improvement by utilizing the Danaher Business Systems (DBS) tools to streamline, reduce Muda, and drive productivity in the daily duties.
- Participate in cross-functional DBS events that require financial oversight and involvement including but not limited to Growth Room, Visual Daily Management, PSPs, TPIs, VSMs, etc.
- Ensure the teams complete all DBS related trainings on time and continuously build up the DBS capabilities and maturities for self and team.
People and Wellbeing:
- Be a key advocate for wellbeing and engagement through leading by example.
- Continuously find ways to coach, mentor, train, develop, and grow the talent within the team.
- Be a strong contributor to APAC regional and global teams by building influence and voice.
Who you are?
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with solid finance background
- At least 8-10 years of prior experience in a senior financial leadership position
- Advanced knowledge in J GAAP and US GAAP accounting knowledge including Statutory and Tax
- Superior Excel and financial modeling proficiency; Knowledge in Power BI would be useful
- Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills in English and Japanese
- Proven ability to work within a global matrix organization with strong leadership/influencing skills
- Able to predict and respond to issues timely; articulate solutions with excellent logic and reasoning skills
- FMP, PFLP, CAS, CPA, MBA, EMBA (or any other relevant financial training program) preferred
