The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a therapeutic specialist who serves as a key field-based scientific resource and technical expert contributing to establishing Clinigen as a leading medicines access company. This role supports launched medicine and developing medicine throughout Japan, for a range of therapeutic areas (Podiatric, rare diseases). The position operates within a team structure and will require regular interaction with commercial, marketing, regulatory team and other departments. This position requires a willingness to contribute to both strategy and tactics with a proactive and can-do attitude.

Major Tasks & Activities:

KOL / Investigator / Academia / Scientific community relationships

  • Identify, develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with key medical experts in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborate with physicians and drive medical affairs initiatives including publications, investigator sponsored research (ISR), advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training development programs.
  • Provide medical and scientific input into the planning and execution of advisory boards and work with physician experts to review speaker presentations and provide medical references where requested.
  • Conduct landscape mapping activities to develop a deep understanding of current patient care in target therapeutics areas.
  • Study Group management on the launched product’s post-marketing-surveillance.

Customer Insights

  • Collect and communicate key customers insights to internal teams.
  • Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to disease experts in applicable therapeutic areas. Support the medical community with up-to-date medical information, robust disease expertise and product information when an unsolicited request is received.
  • Serve as internal expert in specific therapeutic area demonstrating up-to-date and high-level therapeutic expertise. Train Clinigen staff on key scientific and medical topics in relevant therapeutic area.
  • Solicit and share best practices to enhance team productivity.
  • Attend and support at International and local congresses / symposia (if needed or required by the needs of the business).
  • Deliver, quality medical education presentations in a variety of settings and obtain feedback that can be disseminated throughout the organization e.g. staff meetings, round tables, hospital meeting activities in collaboration with the commercial staff.
  • Create and update disease awareness sites to improve patient understanding.

Medical Information

  • Deliver medical information responses to all internal and external customer enquiries (escalated from call centre).
  • Contribute to and ensure maintenance of the Medical Information Database FAQ, Standard Responses, resources.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Clinigen products and available resources.

Knowledge and Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a current and comprehensive knowledge of Clinigen and competitor's products.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, cutting-edge practices and techniques, current publications and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Clinigen’s standard operating procedures and policies and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Ensure your Company related activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards.

Administration

  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant with standard processes and formats.
  • Complete required reports within designated timeframes.
  • Participate in meetings as required.
  • Liaise with management and staff to ensure projects are conducted efficiently.
  • Communicate with staff & management using proper channels.
  • Master computer skills and required software programs.

Requirements

  • Medical / PhD / Pharmacology / Science Degree
  • Previous Medical Affairs, or MSL experience desirable
  • Advanced understanding of a relevant therapeutic area(s) e.g. Oncology, Rare Diseases (preferred)
  • Understanding of the Medicines JPMA Code of Practice
  • Experienced in establishing relationships with senior healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and a solid understanding of research methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across all customer levels, in range of contexts
  • Fluent in Japanese / Good oral, writing and reading skills in English
  • Will be required to travel nationally
