Public Affairs Manager or Assistant Manager

[Responsibilities/ 職務内容]

Public Affairs Manager/Assistant Manager implements the business strategy, engagement, and activation of external stakeholders who drive or influence the policies that determine our ability to successfully secure patient’s access to medicines and/or vaccines. He/She assists in developing and implementing the engagement plans with key external stakeholders through in-depth understanding of the country macro and public health policy contexts.

He/She analyzes and documents political environment and healthcare policy trends, issues, and factors to anticipate opportunities and risks of importance to Sanofi business results. He/She implements action plans and provide feedback to other members of Public Affairs and relevant internal stakeholders.

Further, he/she shall map close relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders to develop and execute local Public Affairs tactical plans to drive impact in country, in alignment with the Global Public Affairs strategy and local market priorities.

Specific duties include:

  • Coordinate internal and external voices in order to create One Voice at market level to succeed in their business objectives (one or two specific therapeutic areas)
  • Closely collaborate with local brand teams and support functions to develop local Public Affairs strategies.
  • Adapt and translate the strategy based on market realities and priorities, to define high priority tactics and Public Affairs campaigns that impact the environment. This involves:
    • Develop a public affairs strategy that will allow the right engagement with all key stakeholders to shape the environment in the best possible way to secure patient’s access to medicines/vaccines.
    • Work with the patient community to understand the challenges they have when living with that condition and their request for more impactful prevention and/or treatment.
    • Work with communication to start bringing the right messages into this process. Help raise awareness on the burden of disease and bring to the political agenda towards the unmet need that society still has in that particular disease.
    • Work with medical & scientific societies to understand the current standard of treatment and the needs of the medical community to bring a solution to patients.
  • Work with others in Public Affairs to shape the environment to create market readiness for medicines/vaccines in development
  • Implement the Global Public Affairs strategy for the country level.
  • Drive consistent engagement with Public Affairs stakeholders with compliance, transparency, and best practice stakeholder management principles. Through these efforts, enhance our company reputation and represent One Sanofi to our partners.
  • Assist the monitoring and report metrics that assess the impact of the local plans.
  • Participate in trade association activities to incorporate Sanofi’s business priority in policy shaping.

[Requirements & Qualifications/ 応募要件・資格]

Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited four-year college or university)
  • Years of experience: 3-5 years minimum experience needed in public affairs/government affairs and/or advocacy roles or any position involving engagement with external stakeholders (e.g. communication, market access, medical, etc.) People with commercial experiences are also encouraged to apply.
  • Languages: Fluent Japanese (oral & written)

Required skills and experiences:

  • Cooperate transversely, Teamwork, Strategic thinking, Respect, Interpersonal Communication.
  • Experience in public affairs and patient advocacy, market-shaping strategies, advocacy campaigns, or advanced responsibilities in a regulated industry public affairs role, Scientific/Medical Affairs role, or commercial role.
  • Ability to influence in a proactive, objective and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to drive projects and initiatives and execute successfully in a complex environment, working with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Proven track record of successfully executing complex projects and initiatives, on time, within budget, with measurement of results
  • Ability to implement successful partnerships with local non-governmental influencers
  • Ability to drive local alignment, execution, buy-in across and within the country BU leadership teams though effective interpersonal relations and networking
  • Ability to be a good team player and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders from different functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally.
