Recursive can only work when we take collaboration to be our top priority. Given that we are still a small company, everyone’s actions matter, and we place top priority in ensuring that our culture (i.e. the actions of our members) reflects our values. Recursive’s Employment Framework

・Contract Structure: Recursive provides one year fixed term contracts for all new employees. The contracts are converted into permanent contracts upon new members meeting Recursive standards and contributing effectively to Recursive’s success.
・Flexible Work Hours: Recursive operates on a flex system with the core hours of 10:00 - 16:00. The flexible work hours fosters a supportive environment that accommodates diverse employee needs while ensuring effective team collaboration during core hours.
・Hybrid Work: Experience the best of both worlds with our hybrid work model, offering up to three days of remote work and two days in our Shibuya office.

Responsibilities

・Understand client needs at a high level beyond just the technical aspects.
・Communicate effectively with engineers to develop solutions that align with customer objectives while minimizing internal development burdens.
・Independently create and plan projects once solutions are defined, including resource allocation, cost estimation, and scheduling.
・Integrate projects into the company’s resource roadmap and manage both internal and external resources.
・Anticipate potential issues that clients may not foresee and design deliverables to ensure customer satisfaction.
・Consider the overall project picture to deliver products that exceed client expectations.
・Manage junior project managers and interns, providing guidance and support.
・Contribute to defining and refining project management processes within the organization.
・Identify and mitigate project risks, actively resolving issues.

Expectations

・Lead execution and delivery of client project to achieve high level of client satisfaction.
・Effectively bridge the gap between client needs and engineering capabilities.
・Strategic communication and collaboration skills that ensure successful stakeholder management.
・Determine the need for additional external resources and manage them independently.
・Optimize resource allocation to ensure project efficiency and success.
・Possess a high-level understanding of the technologies involved, such as the differences between machine learning and AI, or cloud engineering versus backend engineering.
・Actively contribute to the development and enhancement of internal project management processes.
・Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

・Proven experience in project management, with a focus on technology-driven projects.
・Experience managing junior project managers or interns.
・Ability to strategically manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
・Familiarity with the technologies used in the organization, with the ability to understand engineering work at a high level.
・Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
・Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex client needs into actionable engineering tasks.
・Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential project issues proactively.
・Professional Working Proficiency for both English and Japanese.
・Over 5 years of experience in a project management role is advantageous.
・Experience in AI, IT, fintech, or engineering industries is beneficial.
