WHO ARE WE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a manager to drive safety and governance in Toyota Woven City. The City Operations team is responsible for developing and continuously improving the necessary rules and processes to ensure the safe and sustainable demonstrations and inventions in Toyota Woven City.
In particular, we are looking for a specialist who can promote the testing of hypotheses related to road safety. Toyota's ultimate goal with regard to road safety is to achieve 'zero fatalities and injuries in road accidents'. Toyota believes that to achieve this, in addition to vehicle research and development, it is considered necessary to take a 'three-crucial elements’ approach to build a safe traffic environment in which the traffic infrastructure and the people at the heart of it all work together. Toyota Woven City is to function as a test course to explore the future shape of the traffic system, including the significance of rules and the way it should be. Our company, Woven by Toyota, is responsible for the safe operation of Woven City as a demonstration site and for facilitating the activities of Inventors so that Toyota's ‘three-crucial elements’ approach is continuously ever-evolved. We are looking for a person who shares these principles and thoughts, and who can promote our initiatives for a safe and livable transport society, as "Weaving the Future".
We are looking for a person who can work in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, or who can commute or travel frequently to Susono City in order to work for solving problems and providing value at the Toyota Woven City site.
RESPONSIBILITIES・Manage, plan, evaluate, establish measures for any anomalies of traffic safety in Toyota Woven City, such as ・Design and review for processes and rules for risk assessment related to traffic safety ・Leading development of software and systems required for the management of traffic safety anomalies (mainly, definition of system requirements) ・Planning, implementation and evaluation of day-to-day traffic safety management and effective measures based on the above system and your field verification ・Establishment of human-centred evaluation methods ・Development of means for communicating safety rules (e.g., traffic signage, announcement of rules, training programs, understanding level confirmation, etc.) ・Study on the construction of a simulation environment for road safety ・Discussions with external parties and relevant government agencies・Supervise various rules and regulations in Toyota Woven City ・Establishment and improvement of internal management processes for city rules and regulations ・Promoting decision-making with the support of the in-house legal department, external lawyers, etc. (avoiding duplication and inconsistency between multiple rules and regulations over different functions within the company)・Confirm legal compliance and safety in relation to the demonstration experiments to be conducted in Toyota Woven City. ・Conformity assessment of systems (both hardware and software) to be installed, with the applicable laws and regulations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS・Experience(s) in one or more of the following areas, or have the appropriate or equivalent knowledge and expertise ・At least 5 years of practical experience in risk management ・At least 5 years of practical experience in governance and compliance in product development and organizational management ・At least 5 years of practical experience in discussions with government agencies and inspection bodies, etc.・Ability to think logically and solve problems・A proactive attitude, working with stakeholders to solve problems・Ability to communicate smoothly with a variety of companies and groups, including the Toyota Group and other stakeholders・Interest in and understanding of Toyota's philosophy and DNA・Business-level English and Japanese language skills
NICE TO HAVES
- Basic understanding of and practical experience with Japanese laws (Civil Law, Administrative Law, Company Law, Criminal Law, etc.)
- Knowledge of and practical experience, such as obtaining permits and approvals from relevant governments, accordance with traffic safety-related laws (e.g. Road Traffic Law, Road Vehicles Law, Act on Punishment of Physical Injuries Caused by Car Driving, etc.)
- Experience with research, product development, demonstration experiments, regulatory rulemaking, etc. related to automated driving technology and/or traffic safety
- Experience of understanding and implementing industry standards related to risk assessment and functional safety, such as ISO/IEC Guide 51, ISO 12100, and IEC 61508
- Experience in software or system development, design, evaluation, or project management
